Find the most delicious looking grown and handmade food at the North Iowa Farmers Market. It takes place every Tuesday and Friday evening in May through October and on Fridays in November and December. The summer market is held on the corner of 1st Street and Delaware while the winter market moves indoors at the Willowbrook Mall.
The North Iowa Band Festival is Mason City’s premier annual event. Every year in May or June, the largest free marching band concert takes place throughout the city. Experience all the incredible musical performances, fun parade, exciting carnival, and so much more.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE
Come to East Park every Friday from June through September for incredible live music, delicious food and beverages, and great children’s games and activities.
Family fun is head every year in June for Cannonball Day. Celebrate train and railroad history with fun activities throughout the day at East Park. Other great, special events held on this day include the Fun Run and Bill Riley Talent Search.
Grab your bibs and wet wipes and fill your bellies with the best BBQ every July in East Park. This great foodie event features teams from around the Midwest as they cook to receive the coveted prize in this Kansas City Barbeque Society competition. Enjoy live music and fun family activities as you dine.
A favorite early event in Mason City, the North Iowa Fair offers something for everyone at the North Iowa Events Center in July. Live musical performances, farm animals, cultural and agricultural displays, carnival rides and games, hot air balloon rally, car races, and so much more occur over the fair’s 4 days.
See the finest independent films from around the world every year in August. Enjoy a weekend filled with great films screened at The Main Event. Do not miss the student film showcase to celebrate the incredible talent of local, young filmmakers.

GREAT RIVER CITY FESTIVAL
Downtown Mason City travels back to the 1930s every September for the Great River City. See John Dillinger and the Public Enemies “rob” the First National Bank in a fun-filled, action-packed reenactment. There is also a costume contest and other great live entertainment.
Head to Music Man Square for Iowa’s longest running holiday display! Annually from the day after Thanksgiving through the end of December, the square becomes a vintage winter wonderland with stunning festive decor, incredible window displays, and cheerful holiday music!
