Kraft-Heinz $62.8 Million Expansion in Mason City Nearing Completion

Two years after the approval of a 62.8 million expansion of the Kraft Heinz Foods Company’s Mason City, Iowa Facility, the project is nearing completion! This has been no small feat and has been accomplished by two extraordinary companies that have contributed greatly to our community – The Kraft Heinz Foods Company and Dean Snyder Construction.

In May of 2019, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) approved the 9,200-square-foot expansion on the Kraft Heinz Foods Company’s Mason City facility with the promise that they would bring additional jobs to the economy. Mason City’s plant manager was quoted as saying, “The expansion was designed with the future in mind; our facility is going to be on the cutting edge of food manufacturing. The investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to this community.”  Kraft has also invested in building relationships with our local contractors, such as the relationship they have built with Dean Snyder Construction.

Dean Snyder Construction, ranked #341 in the top 400 US Contractors, opened their doors in 1958 as a one-man operation and has been building our structures and their organization ever since. In 1986 Kraft Foods contracted with DSC and they have worked on numerous projects together over the years. The two companies complement each other’s visions and have continued to build extraordinary things together over the years.

Both Dean Snyder Construction and Kraft Heinz Foods Company strive to make this world a better place by giving back. Dean Snyder Construction invests in their employees and offers them private shares of the company. They also proudly contribute to a variety of organizations in and around Clear Lake and the surrounding communities. Their website states that their #1 contribution is the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake (famous for hosting the “Winter Dance Party” in 1959 that preceded the death in a plane crash of Buddy Holly, Richie Valenz, and the Big Bopper), which was purchased by the Snyder Family in 1994 with the intention of preserving the iconic Clear Lake Iowa ballroom for all its visitors.

Kraft Heinz Foods Company is the third largest food and beverage company in North America and strives to make a huge impact on ending world hunger. Their Foundation is made up of many employee volunteers and their goals rest on the three pillars of:

  1. Ending world hunger
  2. A culture of volunteerism
  3. Building communities
