Northern Lights Alliance for the Homeless Shelter Needs List
Hygiene Products: Toilet Paper, Men’s and Women’s – Shaving Cream, Shampoo/Conditioner, Body Washes/Bath Soap, Lotions, Kleenex, Q-Tips, Deodorant, Razors, Liquid Hand Soap, Scented Body Spray, Hair Brushes & Combs, Women’s personal hygiene products.
Baby Items: Diapers preferably large size, Baby Wipes, Diaper Rash Cream, Baby Wash and Lotions, Infant and Toddler Socks and clothing, Baby pajamas.
Cleaning Supplies: Dish Soap, Laundry Soap, Window Cleaner, Kitchen Cleaner, Toilet Bowl Cleaner and Brushes, Floor Cleaner (Pine Sol), Paper Towels, Dusting Spray, Comet, Spic N Span, Soft Scrub, Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Dust Mops, Brooms, any type of Bathroom and Kitchen Cleaners.
Large and Small Trash Bags (tall kitchen, lawn & leaf and small wastebasket sizes)
Linens: Pillows, Twin and Full Size Sheet Sets, Pillow Cases, Crib Sheets, Comforters, Dish Towels, Hand Towels, Bath Towels, Wash Clothes, Bath Mats & Rugs, Vinyl Shower Curtains
First Aid Supplies: Band Aids, Anti-Biotic and Hydrocortisone Ointments/Creams, Peroxide, Gauze Pads, First Aid Tape, First Aid Kits, Thermometers (infant and adult), Tweezers, Alcohol Pads, Antiseptic Wipes.
Clothing: Seasonal clothing for men, women and children’s in all sizes, sleep pants, pajamas, women’s robes, slippers, shoes and boots (for work and winter)
Non-Perishable Food Items: Soups, Juices, Broth, Macaroni and Cheese, Tuna, Canned Chicken, Canned or Shelf Stable Meals, Ravioli, Spaghettios, Coffee, Coffee Filters, Creamer, Seasonings, Salt & Pepper, Sugar and Flour. Perishable food items that may be delivered include milk, butter and cheese.

Items NOT Accepted Partial, rusty, or oil based cans of paint; broken electronics/appliances; console, tube or projection TVs; torn or stained furniture; fluorescent light fixtures & light bulbs; unframed glass or mirrors; glass shower doors; window coverings (curtains, shades, blinds); exercise equipment 5 years or older; ladders; tires/automotive parts; chemicals/pesticides/cleaners; waterbeds or waterbed frames; computers; CRT computer monitors; printers; fax machines; dimensional lumber less than 4′ long; no partial boxes of flooring; no used tile or tile flooring of less than 1 box; broken or damaged doors (interior, exterior); sheet goods (drywall, plywood, etc.) less than 1/2 sheet; clothing; toys; baby items (pack ‘n play, car seats, cribs strollers, walkers, etc.); any material containing (or may contain) asbestos (very old shingles, tile, mastic or insulation).
Affordables
Affordables is a division of NIVC Services, Inc and currently trains over 40 people with disabilities in a retail setting.
Hours for the Affordables Thrift Store (315 N. Delaware, 423-7071) are 9am-7pm M-F and 9-5 on Saturday.
Hours for Affordables on 1st (219 1st Street SW, 423-0236) are 9am-5pm T-Sat.
Affordables accepts donations from the community Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9:00-6:45 and Saturdays from 9:00-4:45. Affordables on 1st accepts furniture and larger items Tuesday thru Saturday 9:00-4:45. Affordables also provides a “pick-up” services for donations Monday thru Friday FREE of CHARGE! Paint / Hazardous or Flammable Chemicals / Tires TVs / Computers or any parts of them Water damaged or ruined items
We reserve the right to refuse any item.
Please do not leave donations after hours.
Salvation Army
Accepts: Appliances, automobiles, clothing, furniture, household goods, and many miscellaneous items form books to bikes to mowers.
