Marble Rock, a city of approximately 300 residents, is located about 20 minutes southwest of Charles City. The city is just west of the Shell Rock River.  It got its name from the white limestone in the region.

The Shell Rock River provides lots of opportunities for people who like to get on the water in the summer.  In the summertime, the Shell Rock river is used by anglers and people with small watercraft.  If you like to canoe, you can on the river as there is a portage around the dam on the west side of the river.

Marble Rock is part of the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school district.  The district offers 3 and 4-year-old preschool -12th grade. The school is located in Rockford.
