St. Ansgar is an active community located approximately 30 miles northeast of Mason City in Mitchell county. The city got its name after the patron saint of Scandinavia who Christianized much of Denmark, Sweden and northern Germany. This is because a lot of Norwegian immigrants had moved into the area. The population of the city today is a little over 1,000 residents.
